Derbyshire based Illustrator and community artist. Working in schools, museums, galleries and within the community. Seeking representation to support and grow author-illustrator strand of my practice within children's books

About me

I’m a Derbyshire-based illustrator and community artist, with a BA (Hons) in Textiles and an MA in Illustration from Central Saint Martins. I work across narrative illustration and community arts, combining drawing, print, and mixed media to tell stories through images and objects.

My illustration practice is driven by curiosity and a love of natural history, literature, film, and exploration. Inspired by museums, collections, and the visual language of early explorers and naturalists, I create story-driven illustration that invites viewers to slow down, look closely, and uncover hidden narratives. From woodland finds and film stills to archival material and museum objects, my work explores how the ordinary can become extraordinary when viewed through a particular lens.

Collections and series sit at the heart of my practice, with each body of work developing as a connected visual narrative. My sketchbooks act as working journals, bringing together observational drawing, found text, and research, and underpin my illustration practice, particularly within natural history and narrative non-fiction.

Alongside my studio practice, I have over three decades of experience as a community artist, leading inclusive, hands-on art workshops for children, young people, and adults of all ages and abilities. My community workshops focus on playful experimentation, accessible processes, and personal storytelling, often introducing participants to techniques such as printmaking, drawing, and simple bookbinding. I am particularly interested in using local heritage, museums, and collections as starting points for creative exploration.

I am currently developing work as a children’s picture book illustrator, working across fiction and non-fiction, and am seeking representation to support and grow this author–illustrator strand of my practice.

Through both my illustration and community work, I aim to highlight overlooked stories and quiet details, encouraging readers, participants, and viewers to pause, look again, and engage more deeply with the world around them.
